jjc wolves blowout arkansas baptist

i was at the season opener in joliet illinois to watch the jjc arkansas baptist game this evening. although the final score was 32 to 21 this game was never close. the reason ? Darren Jones . This kid was the closest thing to unstoppable as i've seen in years. listed as the back up quarterback . jones and the starter alternated every other possession. the wolves scored on every possession jones took the field. over 100 yards rushing as well as 11 of 13 through the air. i promise this kid looked like a hybrid mix between michael vick and terrelle pryor just alot more accurate. after asking i ind out this is the same kid highly recruited in 09 by schools such as illinois boston college michigan state as well as wisconsin. i'm not sure how far the wolves will go this year but if this kid comes to your town and you got a few hours and you want to see an exciting player find your way to the stadium. he is worth the price of admission.

What's with YUBA & its program???

How would you rate this school's football program?Do they have a good record of getting kids transferred to DI's?? What'd u know about the coaching? Are they competitive???I see they(YUBA) play a lot of the same teams that BUTTE play. Why are they overlooked in conversation???Give up the skinny...How much of a 'weak sister' are they?? Do you see any promise for the upcoming season with Yuba,if not why??

Dirty Thirty SoCal Match-ups: Week One

We've still got a couple of months before kick-off, but here are some of the more intriguing match-ups that will shape the rankings. A few of these games feature programs that are both in the Top 30 (or programs under consideration).

Which is the most intriguing match-up to you and do you plan on attending any of these Week 1 match-ups? Did I leave out any big games in Socal?

Sept. 4th
MOST INTRIGUING: Bakersfield at LA Pierce 7 pm
HARDEST HITTINGLA Harbor at Cerritos 7 pm
FEATURES HIGHEST RATED CALY PROGRAM: LA Southwest at El Camino 6 pm
Mt. SAC at Victor Valley 1 pm
Fullerton at Santa Ana 1 pm
Saddleback at Orange Coast 6 pm
Southwestern at Palomar 6 pm
San Diego Mesa at Grossmont 1 pm
Canyons at Antelope Valley 6 pm

* My pick for the first teams that jump into the Dirty Thirty are LA Pierce and Citrus...

When Are Fall Rosters released???

When do schools post their fall rosters???Is there ANY site available for tentative 2010-11 rosters? Most schools know who's returning, but with such movement in JUCO's it's sorta hard to figure out who's leaving and who's remaining on the roster. Not to mention incoming freshmen, transfers etc.Can we assume 2009 sophmores are gone for 2010-2011? Can we assume players who enrolled for the summer will make the roster???Is there a timetable when the "official" roster will be available to JohnQPublic?? I see a couple JUCO's (antelopeValley) have 2010 roster listed BUT no players posted....Will the season start before we even know who's actually playing at any particular school?? Who's got the 411????Share it.

Praise for JCGridiron and Brad Hoiseth (Dirty 30)

I'm not sure if anyone has seen this, but I thought this was a good comment from Arizona Western's staff.

“I was hoping we'd be around five, and we'll probably be there in the NJCAA one,” AWC coach Tom Minnick said. “The (JC Gridiron.com) guys do a good job evaluating talent. They know the athletes we got coming in and they know what's already here. The NJCAA is all based on voters, some who don't know anything about football and just go on past reputation.

That was proven last year with us beating Snow (Utah) twice and them still getting ranked higher than us in the final poll.”

ELLSWORTH QB Ricky Rowe gets nod

I'm hearing Miami Killian's own RICKY ROWE 6'3" 200 now QB at Ellsworth will get the start this fall.Ricky led Miami Killian to the '09 District Championship and to the 3rd RD of State Playoffs--losing to Miami Northwestern. He's a very bright kid with an extremely strong and accurate arm.I saw every one of his games in '09.Even though he played with the phenomn LamarMiller(U ofMia) in his backfield, he was given many opportunities for his arm and legs to shine.LONG strides, strong build...he led Miami Killian to 12-2 record in '09--incl..playoffs.Going into his 2nd term at Ellsworth,I spoke with Ricky and his dream is to play at VA TECH--however he knows WHOMEVER comes aknockin' he'll be rockin and ready!

BUTTE'S Florida FIVE

Quietly this summer, Butte College has landed five (2 highly recruited) athletes from Miami,Fla. CB Darryl Williams class '09 Miami Palmetto Sr.High-- left D1A WesternKentucky(WKU) after academic woes to head to Butte.Williams originally committed to The Univ of Central Fla,but changed his mind to attend WKU after a 'real nice visit'.Darryl is ready to prove his 4-Star ranking is no fluke as he hopes to play both CB and WR.Here in Miami,we call him "Hands" 'cause he doesn't drop balls!Don't sleep on Williams--he's the REAL DEAL--ask coach Taggart at WKU.."it was very disappointing to release Williams.
On the other side of the ball--defensively is LB Jamal Robinson, class of '09 Miami Killian Sr high.Robinson left Univ of Charleston in WV after self-created problems. He has already enrolled at Butte for the summer and says he's put his past behind him and he's ready to prove he's matured off the field as well as on.Robinson was recruited by Delaware,TCU,ULM,Hampton and NCCU--but had low ACT test scores. He's excited about playing for BUTTE and ready for the season to start. He led Dade County '09 in interceptions, second in Dade County in tackles. He vows to be apart of Butte winning another title.
The other three are great talents also.RB Jeremy Williams class '10 is the little brother of Darryl.Jeremy help lead Miami Palmetto sr high to the second round of playoffs in 09 as the coveted JamaalBerry of TheOhioState sat sideline nursing a minor injury.Jeremy is a hard runner, tremendous footwork--QUICK FEET and great at middle screens.A real student of the game...He doesn't have 4.3 speed--which is Soooo overrated, but he Will take it to the house and knock you over in the process.
DB Kendrick Daye '09 Miami Palmetto had the game of his life in 2009 vs Miami Southridge (23 TACKLES).He just finished at JIREH Prep and heads to Butte.
RB Edwin Roberts '10(MiamiPalmetto) is a true freshman who can straight up run the pill!!!Rank Butte where you want to...all they've done is QUIETLY RELOAD.

Garden City FS Jamal Wildgoose ready & able

Had an opportunity to speak with Garden City FS Jamal Wildgoose who hails from Miami,FL (Christopher Columbus Sr High '09). "GOOSE" as we call him here is ahead of schedule in the classroom,he's already garnered 25 credits AND a starting position at free safety. He played WR and FS at Miami Christopher Columbus '09 and help lead his team to Round 1 playoff berth against Miami Northwestern.Goose received offer from D1A Alabama State, but academically his 'core subjects' were not in order and he did not qualify. So he took his show on da road to Garden City after Ellsworth fell short in their bid to get him.Ive known this kid for 14 years,he DOESN'T lack confidence on the field nor the classroom--and he's LOYAL to his team and friends.Garden City I see,not in Top 30??? I'm scratchin' my head...Goose says he loaded up on credits so he could move on quickly to that D1A even though he's only gotten mild interest from EasternMichigan.I gaurantee, after the Fall, his stock will SURELY rise. One thing he's learned,is NOT to take losses so personal,eh Goose? I hope Garden City help get him where he wants to go---and deserves to be.He says he"really loves Garden City and can't wait to pad up and bring da wood".Watch out for this dude y'all---his name ain't WILDGOOSE for nothing!!!

Kansas lands a pair of JUCO commitments (2011)...

The Kansas University football staff continues to build on its Class of 2011 recruiting haul, this week adding a pair of offensive linemen, including junior college transfer Nick Johnson, who orally committed to KU late Friday night.

Johnson’s commitment came just hours after the Jayhawks learned that Bryan Peters, a 6-foot-5, 305-pound offensive tackle from La Mirada (Calif.) High, had picked Kansas.

Johnson, 6-3, 290, originally is from Waco, Texas, and currently attends Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas. He red-shirted his first year at Navarro, helped the team to an 11-1 record last season and is scheduled to graduate in December. That will allow him to enroll at KU for the spring semester and be ready to join the Jayhawks for spring practices next March.

Coming out of high school, Johnson received interest from several notable schools, including Kansas, Oklahoma, LSU, TCU and Baylor. He took his SAT late that year, though, and therefore had to make the pit stop at Navarro. This time around, Johnson received offers from KU, New Mexico, New Mexico State, North Texas and Southern Miss and still was receiving interest from Oklahoma, Kansas State and Baylor.
