Steve McNair's son will attend Junior College

HATTIESBURG MS ? Steve McNair Jr. has decided to attend junior college rather than enroll with Southern Miss.

McNair, whose father was professional football player Steve McNair, had signed with the Golden Eagles. But Oak Grove High School football coach Nevil Barr tells the Hattiesburg American that McNair is unlikely to meet NCAA freshman academic eligibility requirements and instead will go to Pearl River Community College.

Barr said Wednesday that McNair didn't want to sit out a year while he focused on getting his grades up.

In his senior season, McNair split time between receiver and quarterback. He caught 61 passes for 709 yards and four touchdowns.

Early Announcement...

Hey Gridders - Brad will be announcing this on the main board soon, but let us know if you might be a good fit for the following:

VOLUNTEERS - FORUM MODERATORS This spring JCGridiron turns its attention to the message boards. We'd like to add to our panel of moderators so if you are interested in volunteering a little time each week to the discussion, please fill out this form.

The only qualification you need to possess is a passion and understanding of Junior College Football. We need people to cover the North and South conferences of California and track down experts for Mississippi/Texas and Kansas/Midwewst. The pay stinks, but there are perks.

Here's what's happening this spring at JCGridrion...

During the spring evaluation period JCGridrion is bringing the Pre-Season picks to your fingertips. Stay tuned...

How does JUCO work for high school kids?

Just wondering how does the JUCO system work, how do you get a kid noticed by a school for a scolarship. I am all new to this and this was mentioned for my son. I was just wondering what I need to do to get his name out there and noticed. He has the size and speed to play at the next level but his grades arent what they should be. He is 6'2" 280 and has ran a 4.9 Thanks.

Early look at the JUCO Quartebacks (2011)

For those of you that are members of the JCGridiron, be sure to check out "An early look at the 2011 Quarterbacks". We list almost 10 quarterbacks that we think should be on Watch Lists for staffs around the nation. Let us know if you have any favorites or people on your personal Watch List. There's a strong combination of pro-style and pocket-passers in this class.

This list will evolve throughout the year, but this is a great starting point for coaches (searching for help) and JUCO fans. Look for the running backs article coming early next week.

Question for Brad

Brad,

Jim Comparoni from SpartanMag.com,here

Did you compile a national top 100 juco ranking, or a first, second, third-team all-america squad?

Did msu commitment Anthony White show up on any of your rankings? I want to make sure I'm not overlooking any rankings in stories I'm doing about him.

Thanks in advance

Jim Comparoni
