Bakersfield problems?

Shame on Bakersfield. They have not ever needed to do this, but decided, like many others, to get greedier. There is a right way and a wrong way of doing things. Coaches are responsible for knowing all the in's and out's of the program, so I can see heads rolling for this one. Coming from a program that has dealt with 40-50 oos players per year, we would find kids jobs, but legitimate jobs. No excuse when you have a recruiting area that spans 50-100 miles in each direction, and when you have kids making over $11,000, someone is going to say something!

I don`t know how many players that were paid a total of $11,000.00 but it states they were paid minimum wage and were there 10 players working 5 or 3 ??? I`m guessing this was over 6 months or longer........ and by the way.... they all rec`d 1099s. They were not paid $30 a hour... but minimum wage. We will have all the facts tomorrow... no sanctions have been levied yet.... all rumors about the penalties. If they are as mentioned then this is more than just paying athletes from the wrong account...............

Yea, I hope there isn't any problems up there. All too often we have seen the bitter x-employee come back to try and stir the pot. Here is to hoping for the best at Bakersfield.

At the end of the day, they were the best team in California at the end of the 2012 season, and you can't take that away!

Brad,

I respectfully disagree. The 2012 season can be taken away from the Renegade team. Like Sabo said, keeping kids in line when they are 1000's of miles from home is harder than teaching them how to tackle. It's part of the occupation of JUCO Head Coach and if a school cannot participate properly, like say an Ohio St at D-1 level, then sanctions and stripping of titles are necessary. Look, I'm not all bad. Hat's off to Bakersfield's administration policing it's own. That's great. And as far as finding out what really happened, well the decision by the SCFA looks real thought out to me.

Bottom line, Chudy is in hot water and if all this sticks, and I think it will. Bakersfield fans should really think about dis-associating themselves with him. He got himself in trouble at Taft and now this. He reminds me of another coach that trouble seems to follow around...damn, what's his name...Kreff, Kruff? Krook.....
tongue.r191677.gif

The players did nothing wrong.......... they worked and got paid.... from the wrong account...... what don`t you get mounted man ??? Penalize the person who is paying from the account improperly not the players.............

Where did I say anything about the players other than they knew that they were getting preferential treatment. Doesn't matter what you think of the players NorCoast, college's athletes are the one's that pay for violations. Don't be naive, these players going to BC were getting "offers" they were not finding else where. Stick to the subject I bring up, what about Chudy?

The players will move on, I think it's time for Bakersfield to seriously consider having Chudy move along too.

I dont know that Mountie is saying that. He is pointing you towards what Sabo said so why not call Sabo a name too NoCal. He is simply making the point that the Head coach is responsible for watching over them and everything that goes on around them.

I realize you hate Moutnieman NoCal but maybe you can just rise above that for just a moment for the sake of debate.

And nobody knows what really went down except those involved for now. So don't be so sure .

By the way the spokeswoman in the video said it wouldnt have mattered if the Helmet Club was under control of the school there were still violations.

NoCal,

Your right, the kids did not do anything wrong. They agreed to take money for doing minimal jobs around campus and receiving benefits above and beyond what is allowed. Nothing else was explained to them, I blame the coaches because at the end of the day they are responsible. Its a ploy to bring guys in, programs at all levels have been doing this for years. Offering things that might bend the rules. But what make you a good salesman (coach) for a program is when you can bring kids in for legal reasons!! If I offered you a gold plated piece of shit and BC was offering you a gold plated blimp you would go to BC. It falls all on the coaches!!! Where there is smoke there is fire, and I think this is just the beginning, and there will be more fireworks to come, and not just from BC. Unfortunately our society that we live in promotes the proliferation of this "give me" attitude that elite, skilled HS football players have, and certain coaches are just giving in.

What name ???..... As an employee I know that you have to defend your boss,,,,

It is what it is.......... BC forfeits wll wins from 2011 and 2012 seasons and the state championship..... George Rush will not want it.. at least I don`t think so. Does Sac want to claim it ???

The most serious crimes that BC did are what ??
1) paid athletes from the wrong account
2) jobs employed student/athletes and not all students
3) offered advise as to where to find a rental ( no accusation that BC paid rent )
4) had pre-game meals for the team...... did not provide for all the students

Your employer wants the head of the head coach.......... I say start at the top of the administration that oversaw the events.... In the case for the HC`s head should the SCFA also seek the head of Jastrab for the actions of his players at the award banquet before the Sac/Butte title game.......... as just one example of misguided actions of Sac players ??

Again.......... it is what it is....... all punishment falls upon the players and not the people in administration.................. strip the title, wins for 2011 and 2012, and then impose no play in the playoffs for 2013. I say heads in the administration should be on the chopping block.... and perhaps the HC should he have had a hand in these affairs........... Good enough for you scubba ???

I understand your point Sabo............... HC is responsible for all actions of his players........telling them that they can work at B/G or in the lunch room..... all at minimum wage. If you work in the lunch room you also can eat there.... BTW.... there is an apartment complex that is more suitable here than the one that is in the bad section of town.... if I were you I would look at the complex on Ming Ave. and forget that one on Cottonwood Road..... that one has a lot of drug dealers in the neighborhood and gang activity !!!!

Should a HC be held responsible for unsportsmanship actions of the players on the field and sanctions be handed out ??? What if an athlete is arrested off campus, should the coach also be responsible for those actions ?? ............

So, who wants the title now ??? I doubt that George Rush would accept it...... maybe Ventura or Mt Sac will step up and claim it. The athletes that won those games were not on the roster illegally as far as of now.......... maybe MM is right, punish the HC and leave the players out of the mix as long as they didn`t present a false transcript or gain admittance by false means........... Who really is responsible for the violations ???? Administration , Coaches or the players ??? Are they all guilty ???

This from a fellow poster....

Here's the Housing Benefit's that are 3 of the 6 violations that BC is accused of.

1. Housing BC football players from outside of BC's permissible recruiting area facilitated by staff.

2. Facilitating the payment of rent to the owner of the Housing

3. Implying the availability of housing and student work to gain interest from players.

If
you don't think the AD and the Head Coach weren't aware of this
especially the AD when he's the facilitator of the Money. These are the
Violations that the AD, and the HC should be accountable for

Why you trying to defend bad policy NorCoast? Have you not a decent bone in your body? The players damn well knew that their room and board was being paid for. That's why the went there in the first place and that is why this violation was so severe as to strip Bakersfield of all their wins.

I actually I don't have to defend anyone Norcal Mountie can handle you quite easily. I'm simply fascinated and irritated by people like you that cant seem to debate without calling people names and twisting facts. I just dont understand the personal attacks you always seem to have to squeeze in to your posts whenever Mountie or even myself post something. I could care less that you dislike us but man does it have to be in every post?

MM........... you might be surprised that I am starting to agree with you in the light of new facts emerging........ if BC paid rent for players then I stand with you in calling for Chudy and Beckworth to step down...........damn did I just say that ???

Actually Jimmy can`t handle me at all scubbie..... and you know my reasons of dislike towards your employer. It has to do with his slanderous attacks on JJ.... not so much JJ but then on Dalton. Other than that ............ his comments towards the people of Bakersfield and the community.... other than that I really like your boss !!!

P.S. scubbie........... do you draw extra pay for posting from MM land ??

It really seems like you have this great desire to impress MM and that you always post to defend him.
Talk about the tail following the dog around............post something of your own intellect !!!

Guys, I only ask that you keep it civil. If you want to call people names, go to the other sites. They love childish behavior. Over here, I could care less if I have one post or 5,000 posts in a month. Spirited talk is one thing. Calling people names and making false accusations is another.

IMO, this thing has just begun at BC. And no, contrary to other opinions, I don't think this is a wide spread problem at every other school. Funneling fundraising efforts through the school's foundation is totally above ground and almost every program I know does it. If BC was ignorant enough to think they weren't going to get caught for something they had every opportunity to do right, let this be a lesson to them.

For what it's worth, I can't stand booster clubs to begin with. It is usually a bunch of x-athletes from the school that, generally speaking, like to think they have more power than they do because they played a few downs of football 25 years ago. Usually a handful of former players that started a successful business and reach out to their contacts for cash. I bet if you look at that BC group that was guilty, you will find those kind of people.

Booster clubs are famous for illegal activity............ however, if coaches paid rent then that is another topic .....booster clubs need to be kept at a distant and it seems that they always throw money around and get the schools in trouble !!!

My sources tell me this thing is much bigger than the Californian will report. Read through the lines on that one. Look at some of the head people on that fundraising club and you may find a few prominent people from the community,.

Do you have a list of people on the board of the Helmut Club ??? There are many promiment people in Bakersfield that have always and will always be supporters of BC football. Judges on down............. Bakersfield is a football community and they support their team quite well............. they had a disgruntled track coach blow the whistle from within the school !!! Jealous of all the money and support I imagine...........

When I played everything was top notch........... you got a clean jock ,socks , and t-shirt each day for practice......... you turned this gear in each day on your numbered pin and got it back washed the next day.......... cleats were turned in after Friday practice and shined by staff for games on Saturday...... You had 2 helmuts.......... one for practice and the other for game day..... Won`t go into other aspects of the program............

It is what it is.............. BC was dumb enough to get caught !!! Should have invited MM to run a seminar on OOS player reimbursements...............

NorCal,

Handling student athletes from out of state, generates great revenue, great visibility and great opportunity for the football player. It's simple to know how to do it correctly and very hard to put into action. It's a lot of hard work and even harder words for kids that think they have what it take to be a student/athlete and a very underestimated level of competition. Few schools in the country have the type of Freshman and Sophomore talent that a school like Mt SAC has.

Not sure about your point of what Bakersfield was like twenty-five years ago. Is it better now? Looks pretty good from the outside, but paying to play and giving out free apartments, let's leave that for JJ's boys to play with.

Speaking of Jungle Jim, his son Dalton doesn't want to play football anymore. I tried to put him in contact with coaches in the Southland and he showed little to no interest. That whole JJ ordeal will go down, in my mind, as how to not be a parent on a board where guys fling crap around. I never really gave my analysis of Dalton on the field. I know how he did at Mt SAC off the field, but that's a young man making bad decisions. I personally wish that Dalton stick with football, he's a damn good QB. But, he went the walk on at a D-1 and that is a rough uphill road.

Keep the peace over there at the other websites.

You Fearless Leader,

Mounted Man

The Bakersfield Board of Trustees met Monday at 1 p.m. in a closed door meeting to discuss an appeal of the sanctions imposed on the B.C. football team. It announced their decision to set in motion a formal appeal of those sanctions of the CCCAA/SCFA........................

Bakersfield Board of Trustees? I'm going to assume you are talking about the college's board. The only grounds they will have are because of a grandfather clause. The school has already admitted that this type of favoritism toward the football team has been going on for years. The first official word from the school was "we don't see anything wrong, we have been doing this for decades." Now, if the board interferes with the COA they will have no other choice than to separate the school from California sports. Should be interesting.
