Jones County Junior College remained unbeaten after beating Copiah-Lincoln Community College 21-9 Thursday night in the South Division opener for both schools.
The fifth-ranked Bobcats (3-0, 1-0 in Division) jumped out to a 7-0 lead when quarterback Early James found Anthony Jackson on a 7-yard scoring pass with 10:19 to play in the first quarter. Jacob Chancellor tacked on the first of his three extra points.
The game remained 7-0 until the Wolves (0-3, 0-1) got a 25-yard field goal from Tyler Fitzgerald just before the first half ended.
The Bobcats answered with Daniel Borne’s 1-yard touchdown run with 1:32 to play in the third quarter. Co-Lin cut the lead to 14-9 when Quo Vadis Lindsey caught a 5-yard TD pass from Micah Davis at the 7:28 mark of the third quarter. The Wolves 2 point pass attempt failed.
Borne added his second TD run of the game, this time from 11 yards out, with 4:25 to play in the game that capped a 61-yard JCJC drive.
The Bobcats return to action Thursday, Sept. 18 when they host East Central Community College. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
