I'm looking forward to Brad's pre-season team takes. By nature it is a bit of a crap shoot - but his takes are often spot-on. When is this due out?

Laney upsets CCSF - that is not surprised for people that know about Laney's current roster.

After the beat down Butte just gave them, yes it was very surprising indeed.
(just finished watching all three years of "Deadwood" for the first time)

Hey - you are here Brad. Referring to the original thread topic a - "not doing it this year" - from you would have worked fine. Last years' pre-season conference assessments were great. Obviously there was some interest.

Any thoughts on the Mt SAC player hitting the ref - and the career ending penalties imposed on the player? Somehow it didn't surprise me that this would come from the second most penalized team in the National Division last year (SF #1). Mt SAC has a good start again this year – 19 penalties for 205 yards in their losing effort to VC alone. They always want to fight when they lose. The punch – I think – kind of goes with the territory.

Gotta love Deadwood. It would be interesting to see CCSF and Laney play a second time. The Frisco game against ARC is big this week.

The Mt. SAC thing was totally unfortunate. I know the kid is saying it was unintentional, but it's pretty hard to swallow after seeing the video. It was junior college football in the worst light. I've seen a ton of fights and chaos over the years, and it never turns out well.

The Mt SAC player Shirmer said, "He has a habit of striking himself on the helmet when he needs to calm down. In doing so, he inadvertently struck the ref." This guy could give Hillary lessons.

Hitting a ref is BAD BAD BAD, but at the same time a 5 year suspension seems a bit much. It's basically career ending for a 1 second big mistake.

One would think if he struck the ref unintentionally, he would at least go over to try and help him up afterwards.

Next week (Sept.24) big games in the south

Riverside at Ventura
Fullerton at Mt Sac
Any picks?

Also Cerritos (1-2) vs GW (1-2) may decide which direction these normally pretty good teams season may be headed.

Two big games right there. I have to take Riverside until they are beaten. Ventura is as good as they have been in quite some time. Fullerton/Mt. SAC is a tossup to me. Hard to say how either team reacts coming off a big win.

I'll take Mt SAC over FC. MS doesn't often drop 2 games in a row - except last year early season and one of those losses was to Fullerton. But before that I can't remember them dropping 2 in a row for quite a few years. FC hasn't really beat anybody (Cerritos is 1-2). From what was said MS let the VC game get away from them.

I'll take RCC over VC. VC lives on the pass but RCC has some killer DBs. Fast!

Another game that could be closer than some think is Saddleback/El Camino. The Gauchos haven't played four quarters yet and they are very young.

Elco came out completely flat. Fumbled its first two plays from scrimmage and was down 22-0 in a blink of an eye.
