Re: Top NJCAA QB transfers to CCCAA

Is there any particular reason why he chose VC and not RCC or Mount Sac, which are 2 JUCOs that are getting the job done, transferring kids to D1?

RCC is gong to have one of the best OL in JUCO this year and have attracted some D1 bounceback WRS, in addition to some talent left over from last year. They'll just need a QB though.

Re: Top NJCAA QB transfers to CCCAA

He might have wanted to look at Bakersfield College Renegades who pounded Ventura 48-8 in the state playoffs un their way to 5the Ca. State Champioship........ BC also slammed Mt Sac and CCSF in claiming their title.....

Re: Top NJCAA QB transfers to CCCAA

I just read here that this kid went to VC because he wants to go undefeated and win a championship.

There's not guarantee that VC will repeat what happened last year. I think after winning a championship, BC will have lots of talent knocking on their door. He also said that he wants to go to PAC12. Well, name 1 kid from VC that went last year to a pac 12 team? I wish him the best, but he has some very high expectations.

Re: Top NJCAA QB transfers to CCCAA

I can't imagine Chudy having an OOS come in and lead his team at QB especially after a championship season. That would be more bizarre than Gehrke choosing VC.

Totally agree Eltigre. Doesn't make any sense but it sure will be interesting to see how VC does after last year.

Re: Top NJCAA QB transfers to CCCAA

Why would you limit your list of JC's who usher kids to the D1 level? Pierce College sent 18 D1 guys out this year, not to mention 6 D1-D1AA QB's over the last 5 years. RCC and Mt. Sac do great jobs but they don't even have to recruit anymore, kids just flock there. Imagine if you had to go out and find the guys to recruit, coach them up, and then get them out??? The later is much more rewarding...

Re: Top NJCAA QB transfers to CCCAA

LA Pierce does a great job moving out of state kids to the next level. I'd like to see them playing in the higher division against RCC and MT SAc.

Re: Top NJCAA QB transfers to CCCAA

You and me both. The way that the committee has decided to segregate the two divisions is ridiculous. Pierce has always played strong against tough opponents. In 2009 Pierce defeated #3 Fullerton at their place and in 2010 put 730 yards of offense on Bakersfield in a losing effort.

Re: Top NJCAA QB transfers to CCCAA

Just for the record, LAP put up 601 yards against BC in 2010 (as per SCFA) - nothing to sneeze at, but not 730 yards. LAP does always recruit great talent and has a good track record of moving large numbers of players on to the next level. I agree LAP could probably play ND as well as some other teams, but something definitely seems to be lacking in the LAP overall program. I'm not saying it is a fact, but with all of the talent LAP has each year, my guess would be lack of good coaching (or not enough coaches).

Re: Top NJCAA QB transfers to CCCAA

VC has been moving up in the JC football world over the last 4 or 5 years and has had great QB's the last three years. Why wouldn't a great QB want to live on the beach and join a team that went 10-1 last year?

Scuba Steve: Chudy would welcome a great QB to lead the Gades no matter where he came from (OOS). He may like the local angle and the big crowds that go along with it, but he's not crazy.

Re: Top NJCAA QB transfers to CCCAA

Pierce defensive coordinator Ty Greenwood just moved on to a coaching job for Charlie Weis at Kansas, three years ago D coordinator Josh Phillips took a coaching job at Cal. Coaching is definitely not the issue....

Re: Top NJCAA QB transfers to CCCAA

To me LAP is obvious. I could be wrong. But, I watched George Rush do the very same thing at CCSF for years. He went on to make a movie about it. I call it harboring. Is it against the rules? No. But, it limits a players chances of playing where he wants. Does it work out for students...not really. Look at the Brahma players and follow their post Pierce careers. That will tell you whether or not they went to the right school out of JUCO. I'm not saying fact, I'm just saying. A good player should get at least 3 official visits. If not, he's not getting to choose the best school that will give him the best education and most of all where he will play on Saturday.
