Undefeated 'Cats strike Hinds 37-10
SUN HERALD
RAYMOND -- Quarterback Emil Jones threw for 247 yards as seventh-ranked Pearl River crushed Hinds 37-10 in community college football action Thursday.
Jones completed 17 of 29 passes and had three touchdown tosses.
Pearl River is 4-0 overall and 1-0 in South Division play. Hinds fell to 2-2 and 1-1.
Pearl River led 21-7 at halftime.
Jones threw a 60-yard TD strike to Rashod Henry with 11:31 left in the first quarter.
He threw a 1-yard TD pass to Ray Chisholm in the second quarter and hit Desmond Ratliff with a 36-yard TD pass 12 seconds before halftime.
PRCC added a safety in the third quarter for a 23-10 lead.
Devin McNair returned a fumble 32 yards for a touchdown later in the third quarter.
Then Brandon Peters of Poplarville closed out the scoring with a 44-yard touchdown run.
Jerry Duncan of Petal caught six passes for 93 yards for PRCC. Jones used seven different receivers in the game.
Pearl River returns home next Thursday to entertain archrival Gulf Coast, which was upset by East Mississippi.
