From the folks at Itawamba:

Number 12 Itawamba Community College will make a school record fourth straight appearance in the MACJC playoffs this Saturday against 8th ranked Jones County. It’s the second time this year that these two schools will collide in Fulton with both being ranked among the nation’s top 20.

Back on September 20, then number 16 ICC jumped out to a 7-0 lead on a Kennard Springer of Nettleton touchdown and fumbled at the Jones County 1 yard line later in the first quarter that would have made it a two-touchdown advantage for the Indians. Itawamba still led 7-6 at half before the visitors rattled off 30 unanswered points in the second half to win it, 36-7.

“I’m hoping we respond better this Saturday afternoon,” said Indians sixth year head coach Jeff Terrill, whose program is the only one of the 14 MACJC schools that play football to make it to the post-season the last four seasons. “Jones County will bring a very good football team to our place this weekend and we better be ready to battle.”

Terrill and his coaching staff admitted that some of their guys were not ready this past Saturday afternoon when they were upset by East Mississippi, 31-28 in overtime.

“Give East Mississippi credit, they came in here with a lot of pride and played hard,” added Terrill, who now sports a 24-5 record in his last 29 regular season games at Itawamba CC. “I’m disappointed, though, with the way we played. We will need a good week of practice and will absolutely need to bring our A-game if we want to compete against Jones.”

Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m. at Lambert Stadium and you can listen to this week’s playoff contest on WAJS (91.7) and also on the internet at www.iccms.edu beginning at 1:40 p.m. with the pre-game show. ICC fans are, once again, encouraged to wear red.
