I am hearing rumors that some of the Butler kids like Beau johnson, a DT and maurice gray is heavy with Kansas and Oklahoma state. Some of the OSU people are saying they are under the radar commits, take that for what is worth though

Some of the MFC prospects

Marques Parker NIACC visited TCU last weekend, Iowa this weekend and Oklahoma State in January.
Kyle Staudt NIACC visited Bowling Green last weekend.
Maurice Mears Rock Valley is visiting New Mexico this weekend.
Joliet has a WR committed to Iowa State and an OL committed to Louisville.

Re: Joliet DT commits

Boy, nobody out of Harper yet? What about Grand Rapids? Boy, it sure seems odd no one is getting signed out of these two.

Re: Joliet DT commits

Yea, and a .500 record again. Seems like they have fallen back a bit in recent years. Although Dupage has improved, the MFC East isn't all that good. Joliet has been solid, but Grand Rapids has been up and down, and Rock Valley just isn't very good.

Re: Joliet DT commits

Why is Harper having trouble getting past the .500 mark? I remember them being a team that usually lost only 2 or 3 games a year.

Re: Joliet DT commits

That's a good question. I wonder if they are having trouble keeping kids through their sophmore year. Maybe that's why they had so many freshman playing this year. In JC football, where turnover is always big, the continutity of keeping kids for two years (and sometimes three) is huge.

Are you familiar with the MFC East? Joliet seems to be doing quite well. Is Harper's New Coach any good? COD looks as if they are starting to come to life again.

Re: Joliet DT commits

Yes I am familiar with the MFC East, but I'm no expert. Joliet has shown over recent years to be the top program, while Grand Rapids has also been good, but they were down a bit this year. Harper has fallen off the last couple of years. I'm not sure about the coach, but since they were playing alot of freshman this year I have to wonder if they are having trouble keeping kids. Their defense has not been good, but I think they improved some this year, and their offense racks up alot of yards but sometimes has trouble scoring points. Rock Valley has fallen off a bit also and I wonder if they are having trouble just getting players. COD made a fantastic turnaround this last year. They seem much more disciplined and organized (few missed assignments, solid tackling, ...) than they have in the previous few years.

Re: Joliet DT commits

Harper has been in decline ever since Teonic took over. Their talent level does not seem to be at the level of Joliet, Iowa Central, and NIACC.

Rock Valley has a new interim AD that is trying to drop football. Also Coach Warren has not done a good job of getting in state talent. Part of that problem is he spends more time dealing with the AD rather than taking care of the football program. He also does not have any assistants that recruit for him.

The coach at COD did a good job of having a lot players return from the previous year. Which at the JUCO level is key. He also has gone into Georgia to good some good out of state players while getting some solid in state guys.

Grand Rapids should be better being the only JUCO that plays football in Michigan.

Re: Joliet DT commits

I agree with your assesment of COD. COD also seems to have made a commitment to football unlike the past couple of years.

Joliet looks to be getting good talent on a consistent basis. Also looks as if they are getting returning sophomores.

Concerning Rock Valley....I don't quite understand your assesment. Would it not look bad for an interim AD to loose a program under his watch if he wants to be the full time AD? Also if Warren was having this much trouble then why did he turn down the COD job a couple of years ago? Would he not have seen the writing on the wall back then? I admit I don't know a lot about RVC.

Don't know much about the Harper program. You guys that have posted look like you know more than me.

Another question.....I have heard about another program in Iowa starting up in 2009. Anyone else hear this?

Re: Joliet DT commits

Concering Rock Valley's AD his thinking is he will save a lot of money if they cut football. The AD that hired Warren gave him pretty much free reign to run the program any way he wanted.

Warren was coming off a 5-5 2005 season and looked to have finally turned the corner. COD offered him the job but there was talk that some of the administration at COD was looking at dropping football. RVC to keep told him he no longer had to coach baseball, and concentrate on football. At that time RVC was clearly a better job that COD.

Last spring the AD at RVC took another position and the interim AD was brought in. The new AD is into everytihng and now supposedly RVC is to made up of mostly players from Rockford high schools. As you know there are maybe 2-3 players a year from Rockford who can play well in the Midwest Football Conference.

I think Iowa Western CC was adding football.

Re: Joliet DT commits

I do recall hearing some talk of COD possibly doing away with football a few years ago, so I could understand why Warren didn't make the move. His team was improved a few years ago at RVCC and it did seem like he turned the corner. I hope things improve for him there, but it doesn't look too good at the moment.

I would agree that Harper has been in decline since the new coach took over, but two years isn't much time for a new coach either, even though he'd been on staff there. On the field there defense must improve if they are going to be competitive, particularly against the run. On offense their running game needs to improve also and even though they pass quite a bit, the have little or no downfield passing attack. Off the filed, if they can't keep players, something else must be happening. Harper is a very nice school located in a very good area so I doubt if the school itself is a problem.

Re: Joliet DT commits

The new thing from Rock Valley's AD no more kids from Florida. As anyone knows they would have 7-8 Florida kids who would be their best players.

Re: Joliet DT commits

that not true about tha FLA kids. some or most of them flop because they think there good but when they get down to rvc there not even good.

Re: Joliet DT commits

Most of Rock Valley's all conference performers the last 3 years were from Florida. Dorch, Warren the Wr, and #1 the LB were the best players 3 years ago all from Florida. Dorch, Destin, Baker, Peterson and a Georgia kid Turner were the best players last year. Rodriguez, Johnson, Peterson, Woodson and Mears were the best players this year.

Their two division 1 recruits the last 2 years are from Florida.

How exactly did they flop?

Re: Joliet DT commits

dorch and warren was the only ones that was good that came thro rock valley. and last year ellis was the best Wr. last year every scout said that but the only reason he didnt go d-1 was his grades. peterson was over hyped. and this year they say a wr kid randall was the only d-1 player beside peterson.

Re: Joliet DT commits

You are joking right? Ellis and Randall are division 3 players both from Rockford.

Re: Joliet DT commits

you must be the joking... there kids r good just went 2 the wrong school. the rock valley coach be all over the FLA kid then they suck...that right suck!!! then he turn 2 the people that really should of been playing an it 2 late. one player went d-1 from fla out of rock valley an u shouldnt went. all he could do is press. and if u see the game he played at rock valley he use 2 get burn every game. ellis an randall are d-1 player and am not even from Illinois i just know went i see good player when i see them.

Re: Joliet DT commits

You do know that that CB you say sucks was the nickle back this year for a 10-4 Tulsa team. He must not be too bad. And yes I have every RVC game on tape from the last 3 years and don't remember seeing him burned every game.

They also have Maurice Mears from Florida who committed to New Mexico this year.

There is nothing wrong with playing Division III football and Ellis and Randall will hopefully go there to get a degree. If they seriously think they are division 1 talent they are sorely mistaken.
